Yes. It's here.

I talked with Aaron^Rip and he told me I could post the PLDX effects freely, so here they are!

Please, in order to use these effects, please read the next carefully.
  • Do not reupload the effects anywhere. I will personally track the link so it doesn't get down, and if it does I will reupload it by myself
  • If you want to show these effects to someone, don't give them directly the download link. Instead, link them to this blog, or this specific post if you need it.
  • Though it's not really necessary, I'd love to see your HQ videos, some of them are REALLY awesome Post them here as a comment!!
To install it, extract the zip file and place the content (the "particles" file) in your "tf" folder. If it already exists, you may have some custom particles installed. Make sure you have a copy of them if you decide to override the new files.

    These are all particles. Either the server will allow all of them or none, completely at the discretion of the server owner.
    Also I think these are meant for Source movie recording only, they're probably too advanced to run smoothly on the average computer.

    You get that because these effects are meant for demo recording. You can mess up with them in your own server, though.

    The heal particle on red dispensers drags my fps down from 200 to 20....I don't understand.

    These effects are not meant for normal gameplay, thus the massive FPS drops. You should use these only for demo recording, and for usual play if your computer can handle it.

    That is my point, it is in game or not, I just picked up your uber filling beam and used that with the rest of these particles and they work fine in game and when playing demos.

    I didn't use the new explosion because you can see the first part of it through walls and such. But great stuff anyway :D

    I went through these and toned 'em down for regular play (and I fixed the explosions- deleted the system marked "flyingembers" I think, it was one of the children of "lots2"). I used timedemo with a recording of one extremely particle-heavy (tons of explosive servermods) and found that I still got 25% less fps average. Now I'm caught between playing the game beautifully with frame loss (22-ish avg), and playing the game with ok fps (30-ish avg) and dull particles :S
    I need a new computer -_-

    I love these particles, I can't stop opening them up and seeing how they work. However I do have one question: How are you able to get the warp particles behind the others? Whenever I try they keep covering up all the other ones.

    When creating the final particle effect, I create a "Parent" particle that doesn't emit anything, but is named the way the game calls it and childs all the other effects. You can child them in order or move a childed effect on the top/bottom of the list by right clicking and pressing "move up/down"

    These things are great, very beautiful. Can you release an explosion file that we can't see through walls? I tried doing it in the particle editor but that thing is confusing and I have no experience.

      Yes, you have to place them in your usual Particles folder, so it will override the previous ones you had. Just make a copy of that folder and replace them back once you finished recording.

      So they are just there as PCF files and would be applied to the demo automatically?

      I don't see a difference, or at least not as spectacular as some of the videos posted above ^^

      I'm sorry once again for being so illiterate in this, I really want it to work out but I'm afraid I'm just not knowledgeable enough.

    I put all of the particles in Steam\SteamApps\common\Team Fortress 2\tf\particles

    And when I open my game nothing has changed at all.

    hey just a heads up for those interested the pldx particles have to be placed in the tf/custom make a new folder called pldx and then make a folder called particles inside it and drop the files required inside the particles folder

    you directory should look like this

    team fortress 2/tf/custom/pldx/particles
